Free Tax Preparation Update

March 25th, 2020

Land O’ Lakes, FL – “We want to provide an update on our ability to help you file your 2019 tax returns.  As you are probably aware, operation of the free tax sites in Pasco County was suspended on March 17th in the interest of the health of our clients and volunteers.  This is consistent with guidance from the federal government.

Since then, the U.S. Treasury has announced that the Filing Deadline for 2019 tax returns has been extended from April 15 to July 15.  If circumstances permit, we plan to re-open our tax sites to be able to help you complete your 2019 tax return by the revised deadline. We are uncertain when we may be able to reopen the sites and if we do reopen, we expect capacity to be limited. You may want to consider other alternatives for completing your tax return.

We will keep the public informed on plans to re-open sites.  We will also post updates on our website www.unitedwaypasco.org.  If we reopen, you will be able to make an appointment by calling 211 or if outside Pasco County dial 727-845-4357. You can also visit https://www.unitedwaypasco.org/vita.

In the meantime, another option is self-preparation at www.myfreetaxes.com, which is sponsored by United Way.”
