HOW TO START A WORKPLACE FOOD DRIVE
“STOCK THE SHELVES”

You can LIVE UNITED right here in Pasco County by hosting a
Stock the Shelves” Workplace Food Drive.

What is a Workplace Food Drive? It is a company, division or department organizing and collecting canned goods and boxed foods from co-workers. Your company can really make a difference in helping to stop hunger in Pasco County! By setting up food collection during the two weeks of the food drive, you will help meet the food needs of so many hungry people right here in Pasco County.

United Way of Pasco County will help you create your
Workplace Food Drive:
  • Review the entire DIGITAL TOOLKIT
  • Call the food pantry that has been assigned to you to let them know you are their contact person.
  • From the toolkit, print out labels, posters/flyers to distribute.
  • Select locations for your collections spots. Label your containers. See toolkit.
  • Spread the word with emails and website! The toolkit has a template for this, too.
  • Encourage everyone to bring canned and boxed goods at every opportunity.
  • At the end of the food drive, work with your assigned pantry to get the food to them.

Dress your reception area, meeting rooms, break rooms, dining areas and offices with posters, use internal email, make notices for your company website, send memos and announce it at meetings. Use bulletin boards, display monitors and newsletters. Let co-workers and vendors know you are running a drive and how they can get food to you.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 727-835-2029 or dvosburgh@unitedwaypasco.org with any questions you might have.
