Funding Opportunites with United Way
The following is information about the various funding programs currently undertaken by the United Way of Pasco County. For more information about these programs, please contact the United Way of Pasco County.
United Way Annual Allocation
Eligible Agencies: United Way Partner Agencies 501(c) 3.
Origin of Funding: United Way of Pasco County.
Purpose of Funding: To provide services which meet genuine community needs and that do not duplicate already existing service programs. Pending maintenance of “Agency in good standing” status and continued success of the campaign.
The level of funding is based on the performance of the program. All United Way of Pasco County funds must be used for services provided in Pasco County only. Unless otherwise stated, the functional use of these funds is restricted to the applied for program only.
Fund Distribution: Twelve equal monthly payments beginning July 1 of the United Way’s fiscal year following the review.
Application Timeline: February/March.
Notification: June 30.
Frequency: Annual Application and Agency Review.
The United Way of Pasco County is not accepting new Partner Agencies at this time.
Pasco County Government
“Outside Agency” Funding
Eligible Agencies: Qualified not-for-profit 501(c)3 organizations that serve residents of Pasco County.
Origin of Funding: Pasco County.
Purpose of Funding: To fund programs which provide needed human services to the citizens of Pasco County.
Fund Distribution: Quarterly payments will be distributed by United Way of Pasco County.
Application Timeline: October 21, 2011 – November 4, 2011 at 5:00 pm.
Notification: December 1, 2011.
Frequency: Annually, depending on fund availability.
Energy Neighborhood Fund
Eligible Agencies: Any not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Pasco County.
Origin of Funding: Progress Energy.
Purpose of Funding: To provide funds to assist Progress Energy residential customers who are experiencing difficulty in paying their energy bills (includes electricity, gas and wood oil). Agencies selected to participate must be capable of covering specific geographic areas of the county and have sufficient client capacity. Progress Energy and United Way set specific requirements for participating agencies.
Fund Distribution: Monthly.
Application Timeline: Not Applicable.
Frequency: Annually, depending on fund availability.
Emergency Food and Shelter
Eligible Agencies: A nonprofit or an agency of government that is capable of providing emergency food and/or shelter services.
Origin of Funding: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Purpose of Funding: The program was created by Congress to help meet the needs of hungry and homeless people throughout the United States and its territories by allocating federal funds for the provision of food and shelter.
Fund Distribution: Two payments.
Timeline Application: February/March.
Notification: April.
Frequency: Annually, depending on fund availability.
